Ransomware is Everywhere: What Does This Mean for Your Organization?

Both the number and size of ransomware incidents continue to increase significantly, with The New York Times reporting that related attacks now occur approximately every eight minutes. It’s a seemingly vicious cycle as ransomware payments support a working business model and prop up the industry by supplying more cash to reinvest in the launch of new ransoms.

Now, in addition to broadly targeting businesses of all types and sizes across every industry and location, ransomware attacks on critical infrastructure are also trending – for example, in the case of the recent Colonial Pipeline and JBS incidents – turning a question of corporate security posture and cyber defense into one of national security and policy as well. What does this all mean for your organization?

Join us for the next Midwest Cyber Security Alliance virtual meeting for insights and tips on how to prepare your organization for – and ultimately respond to – these increasing attacks. Presenters from Foley and fellow co-sponsors Aon and Stroz Friedberg, an Aon company, will discuss:

  • The changing cyber insurance market;
  • Evolving legal considerations surrounding ransomware attacks, including whether you can pay a ransom;
  • Public exposure strategies;
  • Supply chain considerations;
  • Risk mitigation and incident response best practices; and
  • Public and private sector collaborations to disrupt and deter ransomware actors at the federal, state, and local levels
