Emma Blumer

Overview

Emma Blumer is a senior counsel and business lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. She is a member of the firm’s Transactional & Securities Practice. Emma is a trusted legal advisor who focuses on delivering practical and efficient solutions to simple and complex legal issues. Emma focuses her practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, restructuring, commercial contracts, joint ventures and corporate governance. She has advised domestic and international, publically held and private companies that operate in a wide range of industry sectors, including energy, manufacturing and entertainment.

Emma also provides counsel to clients on trademark, copyright and advertising law issues, including clearance, licensing, and other intellectual property related matters. While in law school, Emma worked at the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau.

Prior to joining Foley, Emma was an associate in the global finance group at Sidley Austin LLP. She has extensive experience in all aspects of structured finance and securitization and has represented issuers, underwriters, and loan sellers on a variety of capital markets transactions, including public and private offerings of asset-backed securities. In addition, Emma has represented clients in connection with general corporate transactions, including the structuring and operations of domestic and offshore investment funds and the development of peer-to-peer lending programs.

Education

Emma earned her law degree from New York Law School (J.D., summa cum laude, 2013), where she was a member of the New York Law School Law Review. While in law school, she was a John Marshall Harlan scholar, affiliated with Institute for Information Law and Policy.

Emma earned her bachelor’s degree in government and women’s studies from Skidmore College (B.S., cum laude, 2010).
