Kristina Fernandez Mabrie is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP. She is a primary member of the Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice. Kristina is an experienced litigator with wide ranging experience litigating contractual, commercial, labor and employment, personal injury, sports and products liability disputes across the United States. Kristina frequently represents companies across the hospitality, healthcare, insurance and sports/entertainment industries, as well as companies and startups with contractual, commercial, or labor and employment disputes. Kristina frequently represents Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies in all phases of commercial disputes, ranging from pre-litigation dispute resolution, state and federal court litigation, arbitrations and appeals.
Kristina is also a secondary member of the Labor & Employment Practice. Kristina defends employers in a wide range of employment litigation and arbitration matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, leaves of absence, breaches of contract and wage and hour class actions. Kristina regularly provides practical legal advice on human resource issues and counsels on a wide range of employment issues including personnel policies, disciplinary actions and terminations/layoffs. Kristina also frequently conducts investigations into employee complaints of harassment, discrimination, retaliation and other employee complaints.
Kristina is an active member of the Pro Bono Racial Justice and Equity Practice Group and devotes her pro bono practice to matters impacting racial justice and equality locally and nationally.
Previously, Kristina worked as a summer associate with Foley in both 2015 and 2016, where she focused on issues in complex litigation, business litigation, labor and employment and sports law.
Prior to joining Foley, Kristina served as a judicial extern for The Honorable Judge Alex Kozinski of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit where she worked on a wide variety of appellate cases. Prior to her legal career, Kristina gained legal experience as a litigation paralegal. Before that, she gained valuable sports industry knowledge while working for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Kristina received her law degree from University of California Los Angeles School of Law (J.D., 2017), where she was a member of UCLA Law’s Moot Court Team and competed at the National Juvenile Law Moot Court Competition. She earned her undergraduate degree from Loyola Marymount University (B.A., 2008) in English-Writing. While earning her undergraduate degree, she was a four Sport Division I varsity letter recipient in water polo, swim, track and cross-country.
Kristina is admitted to practice law in California and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for California. Kristina is also admitted in the District of Columbia.
Kristina is a member of the Sports Lawyers Association and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.
