The authors explore the Biden Administration’s unveiled policy proposals aimed at reforming the nursing home industry, with a focus on higher standards, accountability, and transparency. Initiatives include plans for minimum staffing requirements, overhauling the Special Focus Facilities program, and increasing transparency in ownership data, among others.

“A close monitoring of the announced (and unannounced) initiatives in the coming years, as well as continued attention on the need for additional reimbursements, will be necessary to determine the impact the proposed reforms will have on the nursing home industry,” Vernaglia and Maulden conclude.
