Foley & Lardner was one of five law firms on this year’s Am Law 100 which bested the others for year-over-year revenue gains, according to the Law360 article, «BigLaw’s Biggest Revenue Gainers and Losers In 2018.” Foley’s revenues increased nearly 22% over the last year.
Foley CEO and partner Jay Rothman cited Foley’s efforts to efficiently integrate with Gardere Wynn Sewell after the two firms combined last April for the big uptick in annual revenue, which grew 21.9 percent last year, to $837 million. The combined firm opened 125 new matters, amounting to more than 15,000 billable hours served by 16 offices and more than $10 million in billings, Rothman said.
“At the end of the day, the combination was about how we could bring additional services and depth to existing and prospective clients, and we made enormous strides to operate as one firm,” he said. “Our lawyers worked together to understand each other’s practices, and following the combination, jointly pitched new business and cross-sold across practices, industries and geographies.”
