Foley Represents Sports Medicine North in its Partnership with Spire Orthopedic Partners

Foley & Lardner LLP represented Massachusetts-based Sports Medicine North (SMN) and its affiliated ambulatory surgery center, Orthopedic Surgical Center of the North Shore, in a partnership with Spire Orthopedic Partners, a management services organization focused on orthopedic and spine care. The partnership will culminate in broad access to competitive, cutting-edge orthopedic care in the New England region.

Spire is a rapidly expanding national partnership of orthopedic practices backed by New York private equity firm Kohlberg & Company. Spire provides support, administration, and resources for clinical practices, thus relieving management stressors and allowing physicians to focus on patient care. The Spire network includes over 100 physicians and nearly 1,000 employees at 23 locations in the Northeastern United States.

Founded in 1994, SMN offers comprehensive orthopedic and spine care by fellowship-trained surgeons. The practice is one of the most trusted in the region by patients, health system partners, and peers. SMN consists of three clinics, an MRI center, and an ambulatory surgery center.

The Foley team was led by Partner Adria Warren and included Partners Christopher Donovan and Michael Donohue, Special Counsel Michael Callahan, and Associate Alexandra Shalom, with additional support from attorneys spanning multiple Foley offices and practices.
