Stacy Obenhaus is an experienced appeals attorney with deep understanding of many substantive areas of law – commercial litigation, insurance coverage, business torts, intellectual property and bankruptcy, among others. Known by clients and other lawyers as a master in handling procedural issues and drafting jury charges, he has handled hundreds of cases in the Texas state and federal courts, the Texas Courts of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Texas, and various federal appellate courts around the country.
Representing any company doing significant business in Texas, Stacy views appellate litigation as a business strategy, and he works with the trial team and clients to determine the best approach before, during and after trial. Because he has worked closely with lawyers in so many essential areas of law, he knows how to quickly analyze a case to determine what should be appealed and what should be dropped. Stacy is recognized as a succinct and compelling writer and storyteller – able to condense and distill arcane legal issues into just enough detail to persuasively communicate his client’s story.
Stacy has been board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Appellate Law since 1992, and he currently serves as local copyright litigation counsel for ASCAP, the performing rights organization.
