A widespread increase in environmental awareness, coupled with concerns about climate change and energy security, has made sustainability one of the hottest trends of the decade. Many companies voluntarily have made a significant shift toward sustainable business practices, whether in response to shareholders’ demands for an internal commitment to environmental stewardship or to improve business efficiency through eco-friendly technology, purchasing decisions, building management practices, and waste reduction.
