Foley is proud to sponsor the Fifth Annual North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA) Convention entitled “Reaching New Heights” in Chicago, IL. The convention is hosted by the Indian-American Bar Association of Chicago (IABA-Chicago) and the Pakistani American Bar Association of North America (PABANA), and will be held from June 26-29, 2008. For this national conference, Associate Mona G. Thakkar holds the position of External Events Chair, Executive Planning Committee and Partner John P. Ratnaswamy is a member of the Advisory Planning Committee.
The NASABA Convention draws hundreds of South Asian attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students in major cities across the United States. It features a variety of seminars, workshops, panel discussions and networking opportunities, including an Awards Banquet honoring many of the South Asian community’s most accomplished lawyers.
On Friday, June 27th, Partner Michael J. Lockerby will speak on the panel, “Franchising in the South Asian Community” from 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, June 28th Associate Vineeta R. Gajwani will speak on the panel, “Anatomy of the Closing Argument” from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Additionally, Foley & Lardner LLP will sponsor the session, “Legal Issues in Private Equity Transactions in Emerging Markets” on June 28th from 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., which Partner Daljit S. Doogal will moderate.
