Regulating the Provider – Supplier Interface: Massachusetts and the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Legislation
Foley attorneys Lawrence W. Vernaglia and J. Mark Waxman will be speaking on a BNA audio conference titled “Regulating the Provider–Supplier Interface: Massachusetts and the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Legislation,” on September 4, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. ET
There has been a significant amount of scrutiny of the relationship between hospitals and physicians and their suppliers, particularly in the medical device and pharmaceutical industry. That scrutiny has led to an increasing look to legislation for the solution to perceived problems in ethics, quality, and utilization. The most recent effort is seen in the enactment of S. 2863 in Massachusetts, which imposes new and significant restrictions. This program examines these new prohibitions, along with those in Minnesota and Vermont.
Our panel will provide attendees with:
- An understanding of the issues which gave rise to the legislation
- Knowledge of the new laws
- Knowledge of the applicable compliance procedures
- Consideration of the scope of the legislation
