Leeann Habte presented a Web conference on the specifics of two new medical privacy bills, AB 211 and SB 541, signed by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on September 30, 2008, which become effective on January 1, 2009. Our speakers addressed the recent activity of the California State Board of Pharmacy enforcement against hospitals and their pharmacists. In addition, Foley discussed immediate jeopardy fines that have been issued against hospitals and the associated legal issues.
