On October 21, 2011 Foley sponsored Marquette University’s National Sports Law Institute Fall Conference on, “Hot Topics in Sports Law and Business,” held on the Marquette Campus at Eckstein Hall. The conference featured panels discussing hot topics in collegiate, professional, and Olympic sports, and a discussion of current issues in gender equity law.
Foley Partners Jim McKeown and Kevin Schulz were among a dynamic line-up of speakers. Mr. McKeown’s topic focused on “A Historic Look at the Labor Law Exemptions to the Application of Antitrust Law to Professional Sports.” Mr. Schulz’s topic focused on “Bankruptcy as a Tool (or an Impediment) for the Sale of a Professional Sports Franchise.”
