The first China EHS Roundtable meeting of 2015 involved the theme “Compliance and Environmental Sustainability.” Representatives from China’s national environmental, development, and judicial organizations briefed members on issues such as implementation of new environmental laws, enforcement challenges and opportunities, citizen suit infrastructure development, new measures for tracking violations of law, and other initiatives. Members also heard from leading citizen group representatives on their efforts to enhance compliance cultures in Chinese enterprises and to use technology and media to provide citizens with access to information on corporate environmental releases, permit requirements, and enforcement order compliance.
Future meetings will focus on issues such as institutional and workforce healthcare, safety process management, and other issues, as well as best practice sharing among the members.
