Foley Senior Counsel Nathaniel Lacktman and Public Affairs Advisor Paul Lowell authored an article that appeared in Orlando Medical News on July 18, 2011 titled “Florida Enacts Landmark Medicaid Managed Care Legislation.” The authors discuss the features of the new Florida Medicaid reform legislation, stating that the legislation will impact nearly every Medicaid provider in Florida by shifting the Medicaid program from a fee for service model to a statewide capitated managed care model. They add that health plans should take full advantage of the new opportunities and expanded enrollees potentially made available by the legislation, while providers and facilities should prepare to deal with additional managed care contracting and reimbursement rates.
