The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's First Six Months: A predictor of the New Agency's Growth and Expansion

Foley Partner Martin Bishop authored an article on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s growing role in the consumer financial services industry as well as the Bureau’s current trajectory since establishing in 2011. Bishop predicts the Bureau will expand greatly and adopt more aggressive enforcement of its rules in the months to come, but also observes the Bureau’s potential to overstep the lines of its statutory authority as it grows.
