The challenging economic landscape continues to evolve as the markets react to billions of dollars spent on various bailout and stimulus packages, changing credit markets, and increasing government regulations and oversight.

With a history of helping found and guide many of Wisconsin's core businesses and industries, Foley hosted an event with Keynote speaker Governor Jim Doyle as he provided an update on Wisconsin's economic outlook and outlines the state's current progress in addressing economic challenges.

The governor was joined by University of Wisconsin School of Business Dean Michael Knetter who provided an economist's perspective on the national marketplace, including anticipated challenges in the new economy and opportunities for the future.

John Oros, Managing Director of the Wall Street investment firm, J.C. Flowers & Co. LLC, provided an overview of the national and global financial markets and how recovery efforts will impact their performance.

Following these presentations, there were three breakout sessions featuring top national and local legal professionals and other industry leaders. They discussed economic recovery efforts and their impact on:

  • Changing Course: The Current State of Credit Markets
  • Ports in the Storm: The State’s Response to Federal Stimulus Funding and Other Economic Development Initiatives
  • On the Horizon: New Developments in Tax Incentive Financing

Managing the Storm - Perspectives on Economic Recovery in Wisconsin and Beyond is part of the Foley Executive Briefing Series.
