Partner Richard Ferris was quoted in a Bloomberg BNA International Environmental Reporter article, “Part of China’s RoHS to Take Effect in July,” on February 9, 2016. The article discussed China’s revised regulation on manufacturing and import restrictions on hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, referred to as RoHS 2, which will go into effect on July 1, 2016. Ferris was quoted saying, “[China] will not necessarily adopt Europe’s RoHS exemptions and exclusions when implementing RoHS 2. This was the case with RoHS 1 and it will remain with RoHS 2. [Chinese authorities] take a distinctly different approach than European counterparts with respect to the scope of applicability of RoHS labeling and information disclosure requirements on the one hand and the applicability of substance restrictions and associated conformity assessment requirements on the other.”
