Kopp Offers Advice for Juggling Work, Parenting Duties During Pandemic

Partner Jeffrey Kopp was quoted in a Policygenius article, “Here’s what parents need to know before taking time off work to deal with remote school,” about how parents are juggling work, child care and home schooling responsibilities during the coronavirus pandemic.

Kopp, who handles labor and employment cases, suggested contacting your employer’s human resources department to inquire about its leave policies. Some employers may offer flexible work options, including working part-time or working remotely, he said. Some may even make an unsecured promised to hire you back at a later date.

“We are getting to the point where businesses are trying to be as accommodating as possible,” he said. “But it’s tough on both sides. These businesses are struggling and may need employees to keep working.”
