The Houston Business Journal connected with Daniel L. Cohen, chair of the Firm's Corporate Practice Group in Houston, for an article about Houston-area marketing companies battling over acquisition fallout. Pop Labs Inc. allegedly bought Bright Box Inc. in November 2012. Bright Box filed suit for breach of contract, arguing that Pop Labs did not supply payment for the acquisition and alleges the agreement is now void. Soon after, Pop Labs filed a countersuit against Bright Box.
"I think the more activity you see, the more likely you are to see disputes," says Mr. Cohen. "This is also affected by industry conditions going on at the time… You tend to see more disputes when the economy takes a turn or changes."
