Carrie Hoffman Plows Through Common Workplace Questions as Winter Storm Approaches

Foley & Lardner LLP partner Carrie Hoffman answered common labor and employment questions around working in extreme weather conditions for NewsRadio 1080 KRLD in the article, “As DFW braces for the winter storm—the big question on everyone’s mind is: ‘Do I have to go to work?‘”

With a historic winter storm set to encompass much of the United States, Hoffman shared that many employers will need to assess the “morale issue” and “local level” of the storm when issuing guidance to employees. She pointed out that some national employers may not realize local limitations, including some states’ lack of snow removal and deicing infrastructure.

Ahead of the storm’s arrival, Hoffman recommended employers “dust off that employee handbook” to check for an inclement weather policy.
