Overview
Lori Taylor is a senior counsel and business litigation lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. She is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Securities Enforcement & Litigation Practices. Her practice involves a wide range of commercial disputes in state and federal courts, including complex securities disputes, commercial foreclosures, commercial contract disputes and product liability defense. Ms. Taylor is also actively involved in pro bono work and represents clients in various matters involving civil rights litigation and appeals.
Previously, Ms. Taylor was a summer associate with Foley where she researched, analyzed, and drafted memoranda for the Litigation and Business Law Departments. She also drafted an opposition brief for a pro bono employment discrimination case and co-authored “Court Rejects Heightened Standard in Pre-Suit Petitions to Unmask Anonymous Internet Commenters," that was featured in the June 2010 edition of Media Law Letter.
Prior to entering law school, Ms. Taylor was a reporter, news anchor, and producer for an NBC Affiliate station in Missouri.
Ms. Taylor represents clients on a broad range of matters, including:
- Successfully representing clients in all phases of litigation, ranging from pre-litigation demands, litigation of commercial claims and defenses, and negotiation of favorable settlements for clients
- Representing and counseling clients in the automotive and manufacturing industries, including supply chain management, product liability claims, and contract enforcement
- Representing numerous futures commission merchants in commodities-related claims
- Defending multiple options specialist firms against professional traders alleging violations of the Securities Exchange Act
- Representing a number of prominent trading firms in actions against numerous national securities exchange
- Assisting companies and individuals with responding to Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission subpoenas
- Counseling clients in enforcement and other litigation matters
Education
Ms. Taylor earned her law degree from Northwestern University School of Law in 2011. While attending law school, she was a 2008 Bartlit Beck Fellow of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), and note and comment editor for the Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property. Ms. Taylor received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia (summa cum laude) in 2003.
Admissions and Professional Memberships
Ms. Taylor is a member of the Black Women Lawyers’ Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and the Central District of Illinois, and before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
