Mr. Britt has represented clients in a number of industries, including the manufacturing, health care, insurance, and investment industries, in complex and sensitive matters before judicial and arbitral forums across the country. These engagements have included matters involving allegations of fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and negligence. He is a member of the Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice and the Automotive Industry Team. Mr. Britt is co-editor of Dashboard Insights, the Automotive Industry Team blog. Mr. Britt is also experienced in matters involving trade secrets, including the litigation and arbitration of trade secret misappropriation claims. As part of his practice in this area, Mr. Britt has extensive experience in the use of both federal and state Freedom of Information Acts to protect trade secrets and competitive intelligence from public disclosure. In addition to his legal work for firm clients, Mr. Britt is highly active in pro bono work. Mr. Britt’s pro bono engagements include: Successfully obtaining asylum on behalf of a Saudi citizen, based on political and religious persecution in his home country. Representing a non-biological parent before the Circuit Court of Williamson County and the Illinois Appellate Court, and successfully establishing her right under Illinois common law to seek custody of the children she had raised as her own since their birth. Mr. Britt previously worked as an attorney extern for the City of Chicago Department of Law in the appeals division, representing the City of Chicago in a number of employment, administrative, and constitutional disputes. Education Mr. Britt received his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law (J.D., 2009), where he was senior article editor for the Journal of Law and Social Policy. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Northern Kentucky University (B.S., 2004). Admissions Mr. Britt is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
