Texas Lawyer Honors Larry Schoenbrun and Chris Babcock with 2021 Legal Excellence Awards
Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Texas Lawyer has honored Of Counsel Larry Schoenbrun and Partner Chris Babcock with its 2021 Texas Legal Excellence Awards. Schoenbrun received a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his many accomplishments and decades of extraordinary service and dedication to the profession. Babcock has been named a recipient of the On the Rise Award for his expertise, thought leadership, and commitment to mentorship and continued learning.
Texas Lawyer’s Legal Excellence Awards recognize attorneys who have made a remarkable difference in the legal profession in Texas. In particular, the Lifetime Achievement Award honors attorneys who have left a lasting imprint on the Texas legal community, and the On the Rise Award recognizes lawyers under the age of 40 who have wielded influence in their practice areas in Texas and beyond.
Schoenbrun is an experienced mergers and acquisitions lawyer who works with clients through the complex aftermath of M&A transactions when they don’t proceed as planned. Over the past 56 years, he has led an impressive career filled with legal successes and extensive charity involvement. Schoenbrun is an instrumental member of Foley’s pro bono team and a passionate defender of civil rights worldwide. Schoenbrun has devoted himself to helping those facing persecution and seeking asylum. He is now the namesake of the Anti-Defamation League’s Larry Schoenbrun Jurisprudence Award, which is presented annually to a member of the legal community for outstanding leadership, exemplary contributions to the community, and a commitment to the ideals of the Anti-Defamation League.
Babcock is a member of Foley’s private equity leadership team and its national recruiting committee. He has significant experience representing private equity funds and their portfolio companies with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and portfolio company governance and representing public companies, privately held companies, and nonprofits in such matters. Babcock is a highly skilled first-chair negotiator and creative problem-solver who thrives on handling the nuances of complex M&A transactions. With respect to his work on complex securities matters, he provides thoughtful and cogent advice on matters of the greatest sophistication in the legal profession, including public board advisory work. Recognized as a thought leader in the business law community, Babcock has been invited to speak at numerous legal and industry events and has co-authored a wide range of articles relevant to M&A and corporate governance matters.
