With Florida being the country’s fourth most populous state, local governments and organizations are finding ways to cope with new residents. One group, Florida Hometown Democracy Inc., wants to take land use and development decisions away from the legislature and submit them to general vote. Delahunty points out that this will adversely affect Florida’s economy, be cumbersome and expensive and will increase the cost of living.
