Partner Stephen Maebius was quoted in a Corporate Counsel article, “Patent Reviews Rise Sharply – And Cases Are Settling Faster, Too,” on September 21, 2015. The article discussed the increase in the number of settlements of inter partes reviews and the relation to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Maebius was quoted saying, “This indicates that petitioners may now have more leverage in an IPR. Patent owners may be more interested in reaching settlements before the PTAB decides to institute a review because a majority of IPRs have ended favorably for patent challengers.”
