Jeffrey S. Davis, a partner in Gardere's litigation practice group, was quoted in Houston Chronicle's article on the recent hearing involving Texas House of Representatives candidate Reginald Grant and his eligibility to run for office. Davis represents the incumbent, state Rep. Don Huberty, who believes Grant is ineligible due to residency requirements.
"What we're unable to do is prevent Mr. Grant from winning," said Davis. "He could never take the seat, and then it would be up to the precinct chairs to choose a candidate. We're just trying to mitigate the harm as much as we can."
Davis is an elected member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is a fellow in the trial law honorary society of the Litigation Counsel of America.
