Partner Jon Israel was quoted in a Sports Business Journal article, “Force Majeure Related To Attendance A Key Sticking Point On MLS Talks,” about Major League Soccer’s insertion of a force majeure clause related to team attendance in negotiations with the players association to resume play in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Israel, co-chair of Foley’s sports industry team, said the proposal is part of the “push and pull” of labor-management relations between the two sides. “The threat of a lockout may just move the players to say, ‘Hey, let’s get this deal done so we can play,’” he said.
