Gardere Partner James Howard Discusses New Tax Legislation with Of Counsel

Gardere partner James Howard, chair of the firm’s tax practice, recently spoke with Of Counsel about the recent change in tax legislation, and how it differs from previous modifications.
“Since the 1986 act, any new law that has come out has been very targeted,” said Howard. “They were going after a specific tax. It’s always been very focused legislation. This, on the other hand, is not focused legislation.”
Howard represents domestic and international clients in sophisticated matters involving corporate tax law, finance and securities, primarily in the energy and real estate sectors.
