Partner Jon Israel was quoted in a Legaltech News article, “As Esports Take Off, Questions Abound Over Players’ Rights of Publicity,” about the results of the Second Annual Esports Survey conducted by Foley & Lardner LLP and The Esports Observer.
Israel said the majority of today’s esports athletes may not even recognize that they have such rights, though the flow of venture capital into the industry may change that. “It brings a lot of experience to the table and perspective that I think will help the stakeholders in this industry understand how to better secure their rights and form the right kinds of contracts,” he said.
