Louis Lehot Shares 2026 M&A Outlook on Financing, Exits, and Key Trends
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Louis Lehot is highlighted for his insights across Mergers & Acquisitions’ special series, “The 2026 M&A Outlook.”
The series gathered insights from leading dealmakers and advisors on trends shaping the M&A landscape, including dealmaking conditions, financing, exits, and macroeconomic forces.
Sharing his outlook on dealflow, lending, exits, & fundraising for the year ahead, Lehot said that an environment with “lower interest rates, more deregulation, a more balanced budget, predictable terms of trade, and with uncertainty over tax rates removed” would help spur economic recovery in 2026.
Offering perspective on what the technology sector could look like in 2026, he said traditional software platforms and manual processes will likely be “disrupted by the introduction of automation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning at industrial scale like never before.”
“We need to see reforms in the securities laws to enable the proliferation of digital assets on a legal basis,” Lehot added on mega-trends impacting M&A now and in the future, and we need a fundamental reform of the capital markets to reinvigorate the public markets. This will require some increased regulation of the private markets.”
