Overview

Elizabeth Mazzocco is an associate and trial lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. She has litigated a variety of complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts across the country, and she has notable experience representing insurance and reinsurance companies in arbitrations involving life insurance and property/casualty insurance contracts. Elizabeth is a member of the firm’s Insurance and Reinsurance Practice Group as well as its Business Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department.

Representative Experience

Elizabeth has litigated several reinsurance and other commercial disputes to successful conclusion, including:

  • Multiple arbitrations on behalf of insurance companies, involving efforts by reinsurers to change the rates for Yearly Renewable Term contracts
  • Arbitration on behalf of an insurance company in a dispute involving breach of contract and other claims related to a reinsurance treaty covering energy and construction insurance contracts
  • Defense in a class action on behalf of a car component part manufacturer, involving tort and breach of warranty claims

Education

Elizabeth received her law degree from Northwestern University School of Law (J.D., 2014), where she was a recipient of the John Henry Wigmore full-tuition merit scholarship. She served as co-president and competition coordinator for Northwestern’s Moot Court Society, and was an associate editor of the Journal of Law and Social Policy.

Elizabeth received her master’s degree in linguistics from Northwestern University (M.S., 2011). She completed her bachelor’s degree in linguistics at the University of Wisconsin – Madison (B.A., 2007), receiving comprehensive honors.

Admissions

Elizabeth is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois, and in federal court before the Northern District of Illinois, the Seventh Circuit and the Fifth Circuit.

Elizabeth is conversant in Spanish and Italian.
