Gregory (Greg) Speirs focuses his practice in all aspects of construction litigation, representing top developers across the country in the full spectrum of business disputes and resolution of complex matters. Greg is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Construction practice groups.

Prior to joining Foley, Greg was a Major in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps, serving as a prosecutor and criminal law division chief early in his career.  He later served as General Counsel for the 621st Contingency Response Wing, a unit specializing in rapid deployment and construction of air bases worldwide.  Additionally, he served as deployed General Counsel advising a General Officer commander and ~1500 personnel in the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing. 

In his role with Air Force Headquarters, Civil Law Directorate, Greg managed the Air Force’s largest litigation hold regarding the 2020 Afghanistan Withdrawal, defended the agency’s interests as lead counsel in numerous tort litigation claims and criminal investigations, litigated jury trials, served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Texas, and handled other complex matters across various areas of law. 

While attending law school, Greg served as judicial intern to the Honorable Judge Joel A. Pisano, U.S.D.J., District of New Jersey, and later with the United States Attorney’s Office, District of New Jersey.  Although Greg grew up along the Jersey Shore, he moved to Florida before entering active-duty military service in 2014.  Greg enjoys spending his time with his wife and daughter.

Representative Experience

  • Defended the Air Force in tort litigation as lead counsel with a portfolio of potential liabilities exceeding $30M.
  • Mediated $5M tort claim to settle at $35,000 (7th Cir, Illinois).
  • Mediated $120K tort claim to settle at $32,500 (4th Cir, South Carolina).
  • Settled 92 minor tort claims involving alleged injuries on installations and by employees on official travel.
