Key California Health Care Laws for 2008

Foley hosted a Web conference on November 15, 2007 titled, “Key California Health Care Laws for 2008.” Shirley P. Morrigan, co-chair of the Provider Operations Group of Foley’s Health Care Industry Team, and Michael Scarano, vice chair of Foley’s Heath Care Industry Team, discussed the impact of the most significant new health care laws that take effect in 2008, including but not limited to:

• AB 632 – Medical staff whistleblower protection
  
• AB 1324 – Enforceability of health plan preauthorization
  
• SB 350 – Hospital charity care discount policies
  
• AB 3 – Supervision requirements and Medi-Cal reimbursement for physician assistants
  
• SB 306 – Extension of hospital seismic safety deadline
