Addition of Leading IP Litigator Brings Significant Trial Experience, Builds on Firm’s Recent Growth in New York.
Foley announced today that Jonathan E. Moskin has joined the firm as a partner in the New York office working with the Intellectual Property Litigation and Trademark, Copyright & Advertising Practices.
Moskin has acted as lead trial and appellate counsel in trademark, copyright and patent cases, as well as contract disputes, privacy matters, false advertising and right of publicity cases in numerous federal and state courts.
Prior to joining Foley, Moskin was a partner at White & Case LLP. Jonathan was also the chair of Pennie & Edmonds LLP’s Trademark, Copyright and Competition Group.
“Jonathan’s addition highlights Foley’s continued effort to reinforce the depth of the firm’s IP litigation bench. While Jonathan brings strong skills in patent litigation, we are particularly pleased that he will also strengthen our resources and reputation in trademark and copyright litigation and counseling,” said Sharon R. Barner, chair of Foley’s Intellectual Property Department. “His knowledge and experience will complement our already strong national IP Litigation practice and further expand the firm’s presence in New York.”
Moskin joins the New York office following the recent additions of health care attorney Jeffrey Thrope; intellectual property attorney Etsuo Doi (New York and Tokyo); Barry Mandel, former co-head of Global Litigation, Employment and Regulatory Affairs for Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc.; and energy and infrastructure attorneys Howard Margulis and Ellen Wolchek.
“The arrival of Jonathan, combined with the group of highly talented attorneys we have added over the past few months, illustrates the rapid growth of our New York office in strategic practice areas,” added Peter Wang, managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “Innovation is a key part of today’s economic environment and the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights is a critical aspect of fostering innovation. New York is an important hub for innovative products, literature, performing arts, internet and a host of other 21st century new media products. Our New York office is a key part of servicing clients in these areas.”
A frequent author and speaker on intellectual property issues, Moskin has also served for three years as chairman of the New York Intellectual Property Association’s Internet Law Committee, and for two years as chair of its Design Protection Committee. He is currently the chairman of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association’s Privacy Law Committee and a senior editor of the Trademark Reporter. In addition, he is on the editorial board for the Intellectual Property Strategist and an editorial board member for the Queen Mary Studies in Intellectual Property Law and Policy series.
Comprised of nearly 240 attorneys, Foley’s Intellectual Property practice is a recognized leader in IP legal services. For the eighth consecutive year, Foley was ranked by IP Today as one of the top 10 firms for the number of patents issued and by IP Law & Business magazine as one of the top patent litigation firms in the nation. These rankings make Foley the only general practice firm to appear in the top 10 for both patent litigation and patent procurement.
