Juan Antonio Serafín é associado do escritório da Foley & Lardner na Cidade do México, onde concentra a sua prática em direito comercial internacional e aduaneiro, contencioso e consultoria. Representou clientes em processos administrativos perante órgãos governamentais e outras organizações relacionadas com questões aduaneiras, auditorias, interposição de recursos e acordos conclusivos.
He has also assisted clients in negotiation proceedings before administrative agencies in connection with tariff classifications, verification of origin, non-tariff restrictions and measures, and tax credits, among others.
Furthermore, he has experience in litigation matters representing clients on trial against acts of authority, defending their interests on international trade, customs, tariff, import quotas, and tax cases, acting inside nullity trials and constitutional claims.
In addition to his foreign trade and customs practice, Juan Antonio has provided counsel on intellectual property matters and amparo proceedings, participating in cases before minor tribunals up to Mexico´s Supreme Court of Justice.
Experiência de representação
- Represented the Mexican subsidiaries of international companies in a conclusive agreement with the Mexican Tax Authority for contingencies estimated up to US$400 million.
- Represented international clients in commercialization permits, IMMEX and VAT Certification obtention, tariff classification procedure, and multiple tax and international trade compliance processes.
- Represented multiple Mexican companies and international subsidiaries in trials against the Mexican Tax and Customs authorities in litigation of tax credits, verification of origin matters, compensatory fees, and free trade zone disputes, among others.
- Advised different foreign manufacturers on their foreign trade operations in Mexico, offering studies of tariff and tax implications, law enforcement and permits.
