Riley Sexton advises his clients on a variety of transactional matters that cover renewable energy project development, debt and tax equity financing, and mergers and acquisitions. As a member of the firm’s Energy Sector and Finance Practice Group, he concentrates on renewable energy equity and debt financing. Riley also provides guidance on acquisition and divestiture of renewable projects, while supporting strategic joint ventures and investment structures in sustainability. His traditional M&A experience enhances his comprehensive, client-focused legal service.

Prior to joining Foley, Riley externed for the Honorable Richard W. Goldberg with the United States Court of International Trade. Before law school, Riley served as a volunteer in Honduras for 13 months with Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos and worked as a legislative intern for the United States Senate, Office of Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Representative Experience

  • Advised KeyBanc Capital Markets, KeyBank National Association, and City National Bank in the US $225m financing of Scale Microgrids energy transition debt facility.
  • Assisted a solar developer in financing a 200MW solar project with over US $275m in funds committed.
