Riley Quoted on the Affordable Care Act's Employer Mandate
October 21, 2014
The New York Times
Partner Leigh Riley was quoted in a New York Times article, “Answering the Hard Questions on the A.C.A.: Does the Employer Mandate Apply to Your Business?” on October 21, 2014. The article discussed the Affordable Care Act’s employer mandate, which requires companies with at least 50 employees to offer health insurance to employees. Riley said, “The rule is incredibly ambiguous. But because it’s incredibly ambiguous, the Internal Revenue Service will have a hard time enforcing a close case. So that employer who thought they needed 40 people and ended up with 65, the I.R.S. is not going to spend its resources going after that company.”
