Overview

Hannah Demsien is an associate and member of the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice Group and Insurance Practice Group at Foley & Lardner LLP. She is a member of the firm’s Health Care & Life Sciences Sector, in the Sector’s Payor-Provider Convergence Area of Focus.

Hannah focuses her practice on issues impacting group health and welfare benefit plans, health insurers, and service providers of health insurance and health and welfare benefit plans, such as third party administrators. She advises clients on matters concerning the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (CAA), the No Surprises Act, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, Section 125 cafeteria plans, flexible benefit plans, wellness programs, health reimbursement accounts, health savings accounts, MEWAs, association health plans, third party administrator and pharmacy benefit manager regulations, and other health benefit issues. She counsels clients on issues related to health plan compliance, plan design, ongoing plan administration and service provider and insurance regulatory licensing. Hannah also devotes a portion of her practice to advising companies on employee benefits and insurance regulatory issues that arise in merger and acquisition transactions.

Prior to law school, Hannah worked in Chicago as a legal assistant for an immigration law firm, helping corporate clients sponsor foreign workers for permanent residency. As a law student, Hannah served as a legal intern for several government offices in Wisconsin, focusing on health issues, insurance and employee benefits compliance. Additionally, she was a summer associate in the firm’s Milwaukee office in 2018.
