Maureen Stewart provides clients with practical, results-driven counsel.

Maureen is a litigation lawyer and investigator with Foley & Lardner LLP’s Tampa office. She is a member of the firm’s Health Care & Life Sciences Sector as well as the firm’s Labor & Employment and Government Enforcement Defense & Investigations Practice Groups.

Maureen focuses her practice on effectively managing crisis situations for clients, including those involving complex litigation and insider threat litigation and investigations.  She handles and advises on both high-profile and highly confidential cases for clients across a variety of industries, including health care and life sciences, pharmaceuticals, energy, manufacturing, consumer products, innovative technology, and entertainment. Maureen has significant experience advising clients in all facets of crisis management situations, including media strategy and advising clients regarding potential risks of investigations and balancing those risks against pending and/or potential litigation or government disclosures. Her experience also includes successfully litigating high-stakes complex disputes at the trial and appellate levels.

Her experience handling malicious insider matters ranges from employee fraud, embezzlement, and misappropriation to breaches of non-solicitation, non-compete and confidentiality agreements and to violations of other laws and policies. Maureen has successfully recovered significant assets, including monetary, intellectual property, and other non-monetary assets for clients in these cases. Her experience includes both managing internal investigations and litigations in federal and state court and confidential arbitrations. She also has presented to, and advised clients regarding interactions with, multiple state and federal government agencies. Her ability to understand the complex regulatory landscape, investigate, and zealously represent clients when faced with government scrutiny or a lawsuit consistently leads to positive outcomes for her clients.

Maureen regularly advises clients on employment matters, including regarding their policies, practices, and effective internal controls. She is a go-to investigator for large employers in their most sensitive investigations as well as their most high-profile investigations. Through her employment counseling, Maureen has gained extensive knowledge of immigration-related regulatory concerns for employers who employ foreign nationals and has represented clients through immigration-related regulatory investigations.

Prior to Foley, Maureen was a senior associate at Gibson Dunn in its Washington, D.C. office. After law school, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Raymond W. Gruender of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Experiencia representativa

  • Nike, Inc. v. Dekovic, et. al., 2014 WL 12663761 (Or. 2014). Obtained a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction on behalf of Nike in misappropriation of trade secret, breach of contract, and business tort litigation involving adidas and three former Nike footwear designers. Ultimately secured a confidential settlement following favorable discovery rulings.*
  • Deluxe Creative Services v. Picture Shop, et. al. Represented Deluxe Creative Services, a television post-production agency and subsidiary of MacAndrews & Forbes, in an arbitration and parallel lawsuit against several high-level former executives and their new corporate enterprise arising from an extensive campaign of unlawful employee solicitation and trade secret misappropriation. Ultimately secured a favorable settlement on behalf of Deluxe.*
  • Wynn Resorts. Conducted high-profile workplace investigation into allegations against founder and former Chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts, Stephen A. Wynn, on behalf of a Special Committee of the Board of Directors of Wynn Resorts, Ltd.*
