Partner Kevin Hyde was featured in a Jacksonville Daily Record article, “Kevin Hyde to Become Interim President of FSCJ,” about becoming the interim president of Florida State College at Jacksonville.
Hyde will become interim president after FSCJ’s current president retires on May 31, 2018. He emphasized that his role will “get us to the next president, to serve as a bridge,” but has not determined yet if his role will be permanent. The time he will spend as interim president will include a budget cycle.
Hyde has a record of public service, including spending two terms on the Jacksonville City Council from 2003 to 2011, serving as chief administrative officer for Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown and serving as the mayor’s counselor on the city’s pension plans and reform. “You think life experiences prepare you, but this is a first-time experience,” he said.
Hyde noted FSCJ’s strong role in Jacksonville’s workforce development and said “it’s the natural gateway [for many people] to continuing education from high school.” FSCJ enrolls over 50,000 students each year.
