Foley Senior Counsel Nathaniel (Nate) Lacktman, member of the Health Care and Senior Living Industry Teams, will be a speaker at the 2012 March on Washington & Law Symposium of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) March 25-28, 2012 in Washington, DC. Mr. Lacktman's presentation is titled, "Home Health & Hospice Compliance Programs, Overpayments and Health Reform." Mr. Lacktman will be presenting with Tricia Ritchie, President and CEO of Wilshire Health & Community Services, Inc.

The health care reform laws under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will soon require all Medicare and Medicaid participating hospice and home care providers and suppliers to implement mandatory compliance programs. The presentation will educate owners and operators of such practices on best practices to prepare for this requirement and help ensure compliance with existing Medicare and Medicaid overpayment rules. The presentation will highlight the following:

  • How to create and maintain an effective corporate compliance program at a home health agency or hospice.
  • How to comply deal with the "60 Day Rule" requiring self-disclosure of identified overpayments.
  • Discuss and comprehend hot topics and key compliance risk areas in home health and hospice.

NAHC is the nation's largest trade association representing the interests and concerns of home care agencies, hospices, home care aide organizations, and medical equipment suppliers.
