Foley Senior Counsel Frank Murray was quoted in an article that appeared in the July 2011 issue of CFO Magazine titled “Sources of Misery.” Murray discusses a provision in the Dodd-Frank financial reform law which requires publicly traded companies to review their supply chains for “conflict minerals” mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He notes that the provision will have a ripple effect on privately held suppliers when their publicly held customers push them for information, adding that the rule will likely need to be addressed by suppliers planning to sell to larger companies.
