Foley announced today that David M. Klein has joined the firm as a partner in its New York office, working with the Information Technology & Outsourcing Practice. Prior to joining Foley, Klein was a partner with Paul Hastings LLP.
Klein focuses his practice on negotiating and structuring complex technology-related transactions, including outsourcing transactions, technology development and licensing agreements, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactional matters. Klein also has substantial experience in all facets of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, Internet and e-commerce, and in advising startup companies, and venture capital and private equity funds throughout their life cycles.
“Given David’s wide range of experience, he will be able to offer immediate value to our clients on information technology and outsourcing issues as well as their complex intellectual property needs in this space,” said Stephen B. Maebius, chair of Foley’s Intellectual Property Department. “We look forward to his many contributions.”
Prior to beginning his legal practice, Klein worked as an avionic systems engineer. One of the prominent projects he was involved with was the B-2 bomber program, for which he developed automatic target recognition systems.
“David is nationally recognized for the depth of his experience in information technology and outsourcing transactions,”said James R. Kalyvas, chair of Foley’s Information Technology & Outsourcing Practice. “His well-rounded background, having worked as both an attorney and an engineer, is a tremendous asset and fits in nicely with our comprehensive approach to addressing our clients’ needs.”
Klein has previously been selected as a New York Super Lawyer and recognized in the Chambers USA and Legal 500 guides. Additionally, Human Resource Outsourcing Today named him one of the “120 Superstars of HR Outsourcing.”
