Houston Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Competition Winner Uses Sign Language

The Houston Chronicle highlighted the 17th Annual Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Competition and first-place winner Curtis Babers from Lockhart Elementary School. The article noted that Curtis didn't just use hand gestures like other competitors for effect in his speech, but rather used sign language. "My mother is hearing-impaired," Curtis explained.
