Partner Don Schroeder was quoted in a Law360 article, “Comey Fallout Illuminates Pitfalls Of High-Profile Firings,” covering how President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey relates to high profile dismissals in the private sector, and what to do when high-profile firings trigger a flood of media requests.
Schroeder stated that in-person terminations are “critical” and that “if you conduct yourself with professionalism, it tells the other person that it’s expected they conduct themselves with professionalism.”
He also explained that in situations where a notable dismissal fosters media requests, it’s necessary for a company to have “a well thought out and developed” communications plan with one media point person and the least amount of individuals as possible permitted to speak with the media on the firing.
