Pride Month Allyship Program: Straight for Equality in the Workplace

Foley & Lardner was delighted to welcome PFLAG to host an LGBTQ allyship training. The program was sponsored by the Allies’ Subcommittee of Foley’s LGBTQA Affinity Group. During the presentation, Jean-Marie Navetta, PFLAG’s Director of Learning & Inclusion, discussed who allies are, why they’re needed, and how you can become (or help others become) an ally that takes action. Attendees also learned:

  • LGBTQ+ terminology and how it is changing
  • what the ally journey looks like, and how allies can take action
  • about the barriers to being more visible and vocal that allies often encounter
  • Covered straightforward, everyday actions that can help you overcome those barriers, express support, and create change in the workplace

Thank you to the co-chairs of the LGBTQ allies committee, David Sanders, Chris Ward and Rachel Mozelewski, for bringing this wonderful program to the firm.
