Michael M. Biehl is a retired partner with Foley & Lardner LLP, where he was a member of the firm’s Health Care Industry Team and Provider Operations Practice. He counseled hospitals on medical staff issues, medical information, patients’ rights, bioethics, and general business matters. He has had extensive experience in disputes over medical staff privileges, medical staff bylaws, physician/hospital joint ventures, informed consent issues and managed care contracts. He also has had experience in the establishment and administration of health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and preferred provider organizations (PPOs).

Michael co-authored a book on medical staff law for the American Health Lawyers Association, and authored the “Health Care Contracting” chapter of the Aspen Hospital Law Manual. He was an adjunct professor of law at Marquette University, and chairman of the board of Aurora Psychiatric Hospital.

A graduate of Harvard University Law School (J.D., cum laude, 1976; B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, 1973), Michael was admitted to the Wisconsin Bar in 1976.

Michael’s professional affiliations include the American Bar Association, the Milwaukee Bar Association, and the American Health Lawyers Association. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® and was Peer Review Rated as AV® Preeminent™, the highest performance rating in Martindale-Hubbell’s peer review rating system.
