Partner Jonathan Israel was quoted in a Corporate Counsel article published on March 28, 2014, titled “Northwestern Players Score Big in Unionization Contest.” The article discusses the National Labor Relations Board ruling on how student athletes with football scholarships are considered employees under the National Labor Relations Act, entitling them to hold a union election and bargain collectively. Israel was quoted saying, “The idea they might reach into this area and say student athletes are employees didn’t really surprise me.”
