Foley Chairman and CEO Daljit Doogal Talks Firm Strategy and Growth, Featured in Media for Reelection
Foley & Lardner LLP Chairman and CEO Daljit Doogal is featured in The American Lawyer article, “Foley Board Taps Daljit Doogal for Second Term as Chair and CEO,” for his reelection to a second four-year term.
“During Doogal’s first term, Foley has grown more profitable, expanded its reach with new offices in Nashville (in 2025) and Raleigh, North Carolina, (in 2024), hired 70 lateral partners, and executed a strategic plan focused on industry sectors — energy and infrastructure, health care and life sciences, innovative technology, and manufacturing,” the article reported.
Doogal noted that 2025 is shaping up to be another successful year for the firm, with demand up across the firm’s key sectors, and that he has “spent a lot of time listening to clients” to stay attuned to their evolving needs.
He also emphasized Foley’s commitment to its people and how training is a key priority, citing the firm’s lateral integration program and enhancement of professional development programs.
Looking ahead, Doogal told The American Lawyer that his priorities include refreshing the firm’s strategic plan and continuing to invest in growth, technology, and innovation.
He said the firm “aims to hire in practices including corporate, private equity, litigation, and intellectual property” and “seeks to grow in several markets including Texas, California, New York, and Miami.”
Doogal noted that “scale and growth are important” and he is open to the possibility of another large merger – after the successful combination with Gardere Wynne Sewell in 2018 – but “it has to be strategic.”
He said that Foley is also focusing on artificial intelligence and technology, citing the firm’s recent creation of an AI Steering Committee to guide integration across firm operations and the launch of FoleyChat, an internal AI-powered assistant.
