Michael K. Crossen, a partner and business lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP, is primarily engaged in providing corporate and transactional counsel and leading federal public affairs campaigns and initiatives for clients throughout the United States. Mike has spent more than 25 years practicing at the intersection of law, policy, government, and politics throughout the country.

Corporate Counsel and Transactions

Mike has served as outside general counsel to privately held companies throughout his career. He has also served as counsel to publicly held and private companies in the negotiation and structuring of mergers, acquisitions, financings, joint ventures, and other business initiatives. Mike has represented several healthcare and healthcare-related companies over the years as they have navigated the complex federal regulatory, coverage, and compensation systems.

He has also represented several dozen companies throughout their participation in various federal initiatives, including the Paycheck Protection Program, the Shuttered Venue Operator Grant program, and the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program. Mike’s broad corporate and transactional practice routinely encompasses such sectors as health care (including representation of some of the past decade’s most innovative and disruptive sector participants), energy, agriculture, land use, and technology.

Public Affairs

Mike provides highly effective and informed government relations representation to clients, including private equity firms and hedge funds, and portfolio companies of each, and innovators in health care and energy. He works with members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives, and federal government agencies to shape and implement legislation and administrative action, and he has an extensive Republican public affairs presence across the United States. Mike’s government affairs experience includes representation of several key health care innovators, including those ushering in profound advancement in cancer therapy, prescription access and affordability, advanced prosthetics and orthotics, and health care information management.

Mike has been highly active in various civic and political initiatives throughout his career, including serving as Finance Chair for several political campaigns throughout the country and serving on boards of various nonprofit organizations. Mike found particular purpose and takes great pride in his service as National Co-Chair of Finance for John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign. Mike has served in similar roles for United States Senators, the Republican National Committee (Team 100), the National Republican Congressional Committee, and Massachusetts Governors and continues to be highly and prominently active in federal campaign finance.
